Mary Bouchard, a native of the Thousand Islands area of New York State, has a BA in Fine Arts from Alfred University, and an MBA in Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

After completing her graduate degree, she worked in the treasury department of the largest hospital system in Chicago before moving back to New York State.  Her professional experience since then has encompassed financial, accounting  and administrative positions in hospitals, medical practices, non-profit organizations, and tax practices.  In addition, she served as a small business advisor for an economic development organization in the Finger Lakes region, training entrepreneurs in business plan development, and assisting them with the preparation of financial forecasts and statements.  She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Ithaca College and Elmira College.

Prior to opening her own office, she worked as a financial/information systems auditor for Cornell University.  In 1999 she became a Certified Information Systems Auditor, and in 2000 became a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.

Although she maintained a small clientele of tax clients for decades, in 2008, she opened her Trumansburg office, becoming a full-time tax accountant serving a wide variety of individual and business clients.

While on the faculty of Ithaca College, she taught a tax practicum for students interested in preparing taxes for low- and moderate-income taxpayers through the VITA program.  As part of the tax practicum, she began traveling to Alaska with a small group of students during tax season to do volunteer tax preparation for native populations in remote villages.  Although she no longer teaches at Ithaca College, she still volunteers for 10 days in February with the Alaska Business Development Center, and in 2020 made her 7th trip to Alaska.  The communities she has visited through this program include Kodiak, Old Harbor, Akhiok, Emmonak, St. Mary's, Kotlik, Newtok, Toksook Bay, Huslia, Hughes, Allakaket, Fort Yukon, Point Lay, Wainwright and Barrow (Utquiavik).

Mary is a member of the Trumansburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Trumansburg,  and a board member of Trumansburg Seniors, Inc.  She is the treasurer for the Finger Lakes Cycling Club and for Trumansburg Education Foundation.  She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts, where she was treasurer.  She's also a hobbyist beekeeper with several beehives in the backyard.  For three years, she was a referee for the Ithaca League of Women Rollers roller derby team, under her derby name, “Smash Register”.
